Angel Shark

Scientific Name: Squatina squatina

How to spot an Angel Shark:
  • extremely flat body (similar to a ray)
  • ​large and wide pectoral fins
  • has eyes and spiracles on top of its head
  • has five pairs of gills
  • usually reach two feet (some species go up to five feet) in length
  • usually weigh about 60 pounds
  • females are slightly larger than males

There are 21 different species within the angel fish genus​. Wow!
